Atos receives "TOP apprenticeship" quality seal from WKW

Vienna

December 9, 2019 - Atos

Atos, a global leader in digital transformation, was recently named "TOP Teaching Company" at a ceremony held at Vienna City Hall. The seal of quality is awarded to companies with a training location in Vienna that are exemplary in their commitment to training young people. A total of 18 female and male apprentices are currently being trained at Atos in the areas of app development, IT system technology, IT technology, operating logistics, mechatronics and IT operating technology.

The quality seal for exemplary training companies was initiated by the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, the Vienna Federation of Industry, the Federation of Trade Unions and the Vienna Chamber of Labour together with the City of Vienna. The aim is to show potential apprentices that companies certified with the seal have training experience and train with special commitment. "The quality seal is an important orientation aid for young people who are looking for a good training company. It was therefore particularly important for us to face the judgement of an independent jury and thus receive confirmation that our commitment to promoting young talent is heading in the right direction," said Bernd Schauer, Head of Human Resources, Atos Austria

At Atos, apprentices have the opportunity to get to know all areas of the company as well as the subsidiaries in Upper Austria and Carinthia through regular job rotations, before specializing according to their individual skills from the second year of their apprenticeship. Internships abroad in other Atos branches are also offered to apprentices. As an integral part of their respective teams, they actively participate in real customer projects, such as IT support or the rollout of new solutions, as Saroj Shrestha, an apprentice in the IT systems technology department, enthusiastically adds: "I was involved in a major Windows 10 rollout, where I was responsible for installing PCs, handing out accessories and handling the customer's support requests. It was a great pleasure for me to be involved in an important project and to have so much confidence in myself. Regular feedback interviews, in which questions are answered and potentials identified, ensure that the apprentices are able to develop in a targeted manner and are taken on as permanent employees after their training.

Top specialists for a top business location
Atos is actively counteracting the continuing shortage of skilled workers with a range of other offers and measures, in line with the motto "Transforming is about lamenting". This includes, among other things, introductory offers such as participation in the Vienna Daughter's Day as well as practical vocational days, on which pupils have the opportunity to gain a first insight into the world of work and to receive valuable tips from experts. In addition, Atos regularly organizes free "Coding Days" and "Hackathons" with cooperation partners. On the one hand, young people learn their first programming skills in a playful way or can prove their existing skills in real projects. The latest edition of the "Coding Days" in October was attended by 80 children between the ages of seven and 17. As part of an "AI Hackathon", students at the Atos' Business Technology & Innovation Center in Vienna's Seestadt developed solutions for real-life problems faced by partner companies.

"The IT sector is already one of the most important growth drivers for Austria. Disruptive technologies, shorter innovation cycles, new business and working models as well as the progressive networking in all branches of the economy demand qualified specialists. This will intensify in the coming years. We at Atos therefore take our responsibility to safeguard Austria as a business location very seriously. In addition to the continuous further training of our existing staff and the training of apprentices, we offer young talents a range of programmes and initiatives - from junior programmes to expert and talent communities to the integration of working students and interns. We are very pleased that our efforts have been honored, which motivates us to continue and further expand the path we have taken," says Johann Martin Schachner, CEO, Atos Austria, summarizing the commitment of the technology company.
